We are required to follow laws to keep children and young people safe. These laws include:

Children’s Week October 2023
To celebrate Children’s Week 2023 (October 21-29) West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) is running a competition asking children and young people to share with us their experiences of healthcare professionals – we are interested in both good and bad experiences and welcome suggestions for improvements.
The winning entries for the Children’s Week competition will be judged by WGHG’s Youth Representative group. Below is the entry form and all the details you need to enter WGHG’s Children’s Week 2023 Competition.
Child Safe Newsletter
To ensure that parents, carers and community members are aware of what we are doing as an organisation to keep children and young people safe we have a quarterly newsletter which you can subscribe to below.

Child Safe Organisation
As an organisation providing services to children and young people WGHG are required to meet the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Prinicples for Child Safe Organisations.

WGHG work closely with Child Wise to be assessed against these standards and in September 2022, were re-accredited as a Child Safe Organisation.
WGHG were accredited at a Bronze level meaning all the standards are embedded throughout the organisation.
WGHG continues to be the only healthcare provider in Australia to be accredited as a child safe organisation
In working towards the standards we are keen to hear from children and young people and ensure they have a say in organisational issues.
Further information about the Victorian Child Safe standards can be found on the Commission for children and young people website.
