I.CAN offers new support to cancer survivors

People who have been diagnosed with, or survived cancer, have additional support to improve their health and quality of life through a new pilot program offered through WGHG.I.CAN is a free program for cancer survivors in West Gippsland that offers individualised nutrition, exercise, counselling and health coaching.

WGHG Dietitian, Ngan Vo, said research has shown that cancer survivors who return to their healthy weight range improve the quality of their lives and long term health.

“WGHG is pleased to be part of an exciting research project that supports cancer survivors to achieve this goal. I.CAN is an innovative collaboration between West Gippsland Healthcare Group, Monash University, Gippsland Primary Health Network and local community partners.”

Ngan Vo said individuals in the I.CAN program are supported by a team of health professionals to make healthy eating choices and undertake regular physical activity in a way that is most suitable for them.

“The focus is on working with the individual to support and empower them to improve their health, wellbeing and quality of life.”
