West Gippsland Healthcare Group recognised for excellence in stroke care

West Gippsland Healthcare Group has been recognised for excellence in stroke care.

The hospital was one of 12 from across regional and metropolitan Australia to accept an Australian Stroke Coalition Quality Stroke Service Excellence Award.

The award was announced at the 2022 National Stroke Quality Improvement Workshop in Melbourne.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Chief Executive Officer Dan Weeks was proud his team had received the award.

“We are leading the way in this space and this award shows our staff are providing best-practice stroke clinical care for our patients.”

The Stroke Foundation estimates more than 27,400 Australians every year will have a stroke for the first time and there are almost 450,000 people living with the effects of stroke in the community.
