New graduate nurses and midwives at West Gippsland Hospital

West Gippsland Healthcare Group has welcomed its new nurses and midwives.

The group of 18 graduate nurses and midwives completed their orientation at the hospital and are now working on their respective wards.

The nurses and midwives will gain experience, confidence and expertise caring for patients in wards including medical, surgical, maternity, theatre, day surgery, the Emergency Department and Cooinda Lodge Aged Care.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Chief Executive Officer Dan Weeks has welcomed the new graduate nurses and midwives.

“We are proud of the quality training we provide here at West Gippsland Healthcare Group and encourage the nurses and midwives to immerse themselves into life at West Gippsland Hospital to build their skills and experience.

“We also encourage those who are new the area to explore the local region and hopefully continue their nursing journey with us here in one of the fastest growing regions in Victoria.

“We have a new brand hospital on the way and this is something we are extremely excited about.

“If all goes to plan, it should be completed in 2028, which isn’t that far away.

“The new hospital will provide a better working environment for our staff, who have watched with envy new hospitals being built around us. The new hospital will also provide a better environment for our patients, residents and consumers.”
