Masks now required at West Gippsland Hospital

Face masks are now required for all visitors at West Gippsland Hospital.

All staff and visitors must wear a surgical face mask in all areas of the hospital including the main reception area and cafeteria.

Staff and visitors must wear an N-95 mask in some clinical areas including our Emergency Department and Medical Ward.

Face masks will be available at various stations throughout the hospital for all visitors.

The decision to mandate masks for all staff and visitors at the hospital was made following an increase in COVID-19 hospitalisations.

A risk assessment was conducted by our Pandemic Management Committee which includes representatives from our Infection Control Team at West Gippsland Healthcare Group.

The Pandemic Management Committee will continue to monitor the risks and make changes to our approach as needed.

The safety and wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff remains our number one priority.

We encourage the community to continue to comply with infection control measures including wearing a face mask, sanitising hands and physically distancing where possible.
