The new driveway and car park at West Gippsland Hospital will close on Saturday, September 28 at 3pm for re-surfacing works.
Recent heavy rains have impacted on the sub base causing the asphalt to deteriorate in some areas of the driveway.
WGHG Chief Executive Officer, Dan Weeks, said the footpath and main entrance to the hospital and Emergency Department will remain open during the repair works which are expected to take around 2 weeks.
“Safety fencing will be erected to close off the new top driveway area to vehicle traffic. People will still be able drive into the hospital’s two main entrances and walk in the entry doors, they just won’t be able to drive along the new top driveway or car park while the works take place.”
“If people need assisted entry into emergency department or the hospital they should drive around to the back of the Emergency Department and enter via the rear doors.”
Mr Week’s apologised for the disruption the works will cause.
“It has been a challenging nine months at the hospital with significant construction work taking place to build a new Short Stay Unit to support the Emergency Department and a new third operating theatre funded through funding from the Victorian Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).
“We are very close to completing works with set up of the new Short Stay Unit and Third theatre progressing and scheduled for opening at the end of October.”
