Charity golf day raises record $35,000

This year’s Bendigo Community Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Day has raised a record $35,000 for West Gippsland Hospital and the Warragul and District Specialist School.

The event, in its ninth year, took place at the Warragul Country Golf Club on Friday 23 February.

This year’s Bendigo Community Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Day had a new-look which saw teams tee off at 12.30pm followed by a two-course dinner, golf presentations, major auction, community raffle draw and a special performance by local musician Luke Matthews who donated his time to be at our event on Friday night.

This charity golf day is organised through a partnership between Bendigo Community Bank branches of Drouin, Neerim and Trafalgar and the Warragul Country Club – the official event host and supporting event partner.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Board Chair Jo-Anne Moorfoot thanked the community for their generosity.

“This record amount is outstanding and will help us purchase some much-needed equipment for our hospital,” she said,

“This charity golf day is a special date on our calendars each year and one we are extremely grateful for at the hospital.

“Money raised over the years from this event has gone towards purchasing much-needed equipment for our hospital that is not covered by Government funding. We have been able to buy vital equipment such as respirators, ventilators, vital signs monitors, pressure mattresses and an ECG machine.

“We used the money donated from last year’s event to buy new stretcher trolleys for our Emergency Department. We are planning to use the money raised from this year’s event to buy some more of these stretcher trolleys.”

Planning is already underway by the organising committee for next year’s event which will mark the 10th anniversary for the Bendigo Community Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Day.
