Meet West Gippsland Healthcare Group’s current Youth Community Voices committee.
Applications now open for volunteers to join West Gippsland Healthcare Group

West Gippsland Healthcare Group is searching for volunteers to join a number of our committees.

Applications are now open for the following committees:

• Community Voices
• Youth Community Voices for those aged 12 to 17
• Quality and Safety
• Clinical Governance
• Communicating for Safety
• Health Literacy

West Gippsland Healthcare Group Chief Executive Officer Dan Weeks said volunteers played an important part in helping us deliver our vision of improving the health and wellbeing of our community.

“Quite simply, without our volunteers we would not be the vibrant, successful organisation we are today,” he said.

“Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, make new friends and even add to your skillset.

“We are on the hunt for community members that are not only interested in improving healthcare delivery but also keen to help us plan and prepare for the new hospital build.”

Acting Director of People and Culture Leanne Coupland is encouraging the community to join our West Gippsland Healthcare Group as a volunteer.

“Consumer representatives do not have to be an expert in any area – we provide training, resources and support to help our community representatives in these roles,” she said.

“We are encouraging all community members to apply including young people, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders, people living with a disability, people who are culturally and linguistically diverse, and/or part of the LGBTIQA+ community.

“It is important that our consumer representatives are from a wide range of communities to ensure we are providing culturally safe care for all of our consumers.”

At West Gippsland Healthcare Group, our volunteers need to attend an interview, undergo a Police Check, have (or obtain) a current Working with Children Check, take part in orientation as required, and abide by our Code of Conduct.
