Enrolled Nurse Program

West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) provides acute medical and surgical, obstetric, emergency, community and aged care services, primarily in the Shire of Baw Baw, approximately 100 kms east of Melbourne.
Our Enrolled Nurse program aims to provide you with the opportunity to advance your existing and emerging skills and knowledge, in a professional and nurturing environment. We also aim to provide an atmosphere where you will be able to develop into a safe, confident and accountable professional.
Our program offers:
- part time positions -minimum of 8 shifts a fortnight
- over a 12-month program, commencing in March.
- across a variety of shifts including weekends, night duty and public holidays.
Our graduates receive extensive clinical support. We offer a Supervisory/preceptorship model EN Graduate program. There are unit based Clinical Nurse Educators to provide hands-on bedside clinical support and education in a friendly and supportive manner, along with a Continuing Education & Support Coordinator that oversees the entire program. You can be confident that you will have the support you need to achieve your goals.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group are committed to growing a diverse Enrolled Nurse workforce and are therefore offering positions in the following areas:
- Acute/Aged Care/ Sub-acute – Areas of work may include Aged Care, Sub-Acute (GEM/TCP), Medical unit, Surgical unit and Day surgery.
Locations you may be asked to work at are the Warragul Hospital site and Andrews House in Trafalgar
WGHG offers one intake per year, into the Enrolled Nurse Program. Intakes will commence in March of each year.
There are three rotations over the year, into varied clinical areas. Information regarding rotation areas and dates will be supplied during the orientation program.
Requests for specific clinical rotations will also be discussed at interview and again at the Welcome session, undertaken prior to commencement in the program.
The program commences with comprehensive orientation sessions run over 4 days.
A minimum of 50 hours of supplementary education and support sessions are provided over the 12 months of the program. These sessions consist of:
- Paid Study days
- Tutorial sessions in protected education time
- Supervision sessions, also conducted in protected education time
- Unit based, SMART time education
Graduates will be allocated a supernumerary time, of 2-3 shifts, at the beginning of each rotation. Supernumerary time may be extended on a case to case basis, and may be varied, depending on the clinical area and in consultation with the Continuing Education and Support coordinators.
WGHG Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program is offered to nursing graduates:
- Who are eligible for registration by commencement of the program, with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Who have not previously participated in an Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program
We welcome applications from eligible candidates throughout Australia. You don’t have to have completed a clinical placement with us to apply.
