Cultural Safety

West Gippsland Healthcare Group acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which our services are located and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.

We are committed to providing culturally safe health practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  To help achieve this we have worked with the local community to develop a new training package for staff.

On March 16, 2023, National Close the Gap Day, West Gippsland Healthcare Group launched this series of Cultural Safety Videos.

We are proud to share the first of these with the wider community, in which Kurnai Elders Cheryl Drayton and Linda Mullet talk about their own history and family experiences, and why cultural safety is so important for Aboriginal people.

The videos were produced by CheekyMac Productions.  West Gippsland Healthcare Group acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government in funding this work.
