West Gippsland Healthcare Group is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Governor-in-Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services.
The functions of the Board of Directors in accordance with the Health Services Act 1988 are:
- to oversee and manage the Group; and
- to ensure the services provided by the Group comply with the requirements of the Act and the aims of the Group.
Governance by the Board is achieved through:
- strategic planning
- effective management by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- funding of service agreements
- local policy setting
- regularly reviewing the Group’s By-Laws and strategic plans
The Board Directors are active members of various Board Sub-Committees set up to assist in monitoring the Groups various operations:
- Audit & Finance
- Quality & Safety
- Board Performance & Remuneration
The Board establishes Working Groups for appropriate projects on an ‘as needs’ basis.
