Lions Donation

Laurina Lodge in Heyfield is getting a freshening up, thanks to the Heyfield Lions Club.

The club donated $12,000 to aged care facility at Heyfield Hospital and it will be used to carry out much needed painting of the facility.

Health Services Manager at Central Gippsland Health Service, Brent Causon, said the money would go towards painting common areas including lounges and patching up some damaged areas.

“It will make the facility more homely and inviting for residents and their visitors,” Mr Causon said. “Without this donation, we couldn’t undertake this considerable amount of work.

“We are really grateful to the club for its generosity.”

Club secretary Ray Akers said the Heyfield club was a “good, strong team” with 40 active members.

The Laurina Lodge donation was raised from catering from the annual B&S Ball, held on a property between Heyfield and Cowwarr. “We provided dinner and breakfast,” Mr Akers said.

“We raise a significant amount of money each year from catering for various events, clearing sales and other activities which all goes to support out community.”

One of the residents of Laurina Lodge is still an active in the local club and members transport him to and from meeting as well as social events.
