Don Paproth (Chair)

BA Arts, Dip Ed

Don has 43 years of experience in education working as a secondary teacher, principal, deputy regional director and the director of major projects in the Gippsland Region with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Don has a strong commitment to education, particularly in the area of mentoring new principals and developing aspiring school leaders.  He has also been very active in endeavours to improve learning opportunities for communities through initiatives for education precincts in a number of rural centres.



Christine Hammond (Deputy Chair)

Adv Cert Mgt, GAICD

Christine has strong experience in business management in both public and private sectors, including 19 years in the health industry. Christine was a former director of Bass Coast Community Health Service and was appointed to the Board of Bass Coast Health in July 2014.  Christine is a member of the Remuneration Committee, Phillip Island Health Hub Project Control Group and the BCH Development Council.


Mim Kershaw

Mim has over 31 years management experience in both private and publically listed companies. Mim has experience in financial management, strategic planning, team development, ethical sourcing and quality control.

Mim is a member of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, the Community Advisory Committee and the BCH Development Council.

Mary O'Connor


Mary is a business proprietor of three national franchise businesses, a Justice of the Peace in Victoria and member of the South Gippsland branch of Justices of the Peace.  Mary is also the President of the Wonthaggi branch, Ambulance Victoria and has active roles with Victoria Police, Rotary and the criminal justice system.  Mary is an active volunteer with many community groups and was appointed to the board in 2004.  Mary is a member of the Remuneration Committee, Community Advisory Committee and the VMO Consultative Committee.


Neville Goodwin


Neville is the Deputy Chairman for Grantville Hall Committee, Representative for the Victorian Desalination Plant and Past President / President Elect of Rotary Club. 

Neville is a member of the Quality & Clinical Governance and Community Advisory Committees.



Peter Harcourt


Peter is a practicing clinician in sport and exercise medicine.  He has also held positions in administration and management with experience in board governance, clinical review, audit and risk management.  Peter has been awarded OAM for services to sports medicine and is a member of the Quality & Clinical Governance Committee and VMO Consultative Committee. 


Tim Large


Tim has 30 years of experience in executive and non-executive roles across Asia and Australia encompassing finance, strategic and commercial leadership roles. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and now involved in both executive and non-executive roles while actively seeking to give back to the community. Tim is a member of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

Mary Whelan

BApp Sc (Physiotherapy), Grad Dip Man Therapy, Cert App Ergonomics for Injury Management, Cert IV Workplace Training

Mary Whelan is a former clinical physiotherapist with 38 years experience in public health and private practice. She founded a company StandEzy Solutions to design and develop mobility aides to address the needs of patients and the OH&S of staff in hospitals and aged care facilities. Mary is the Chair of Quality & Clinical Governance Committee.


Michael Ehrentraut


Michael has over 22 yeas experience in the banking and finance industry, having led large teams across a range of market leading companies such as Barclays, Westpac, ANZ and Medibank.  Currently Michael is serving as Executive Director and COO of Viridian Advisory Pty Ltd and is passionate about the broader community with previously representing on the advisory board of the Smith Family and a member of FINSIA's Victorian Regional Council and currently a member of the Business Development Committee for Foundation 49, raising awareness for men's health issues.  Michael is a member of the Community Advisory Committee and the Quality & Clinical Governance Committee.



Ian Thompson

B.Bus (Accounting), Grad Dip (Corp Finance), CPA

Ian is a risk professional with over 30 years’ experience in financial markets, having worked in various credit, economic, quality, risk management and governance roles here in Australia and the UK.  Ian spent the bulk of his career with leading global credit rating agency, Standard & Poor's Rating Services, most recently as a Senior Managing Director and Global Chief Credit Officer.  Ian is a member of the board of Snowdome Foundation, a charity focussed on funding research into blood cancer, and chairs the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.

Nigel McCormick

CA, BA Acc, Dip. Marketing

Nigel is a Chartered Accountant, a graduate of Cambridge University and holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.  He migrated to Australia form Northern Ireland in 2010 and is now an Australian citizen.  Nigel's experience includes the education, water, regional infrastructure and central government policy sectors.  His roles have had a mixture of finance and non-finance roles including Assistant Secretary in a number of positions leading policy and legislation, program and project management and institutional reform.  Nigel is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the CFA and a member of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.

Board Delegate

Jim Fletcher


Jim is the Department of Health & Human Services appointed delegate.  He has more than 30 years experience at a Senior executive and Board level in the Health and Human Services industry across both metropolitan and regional Victoria.  His background includes executive appointments with the Department of Health; Chief Executive Officer of the state's three largest psychiatric  hospitals, leading these services through major reform; and more recently, Chief Executive of Western District Health Service until retirement in July 2014.  He is currently the Minister's delegate to the BCH Board.
